Easter Flowers & Veggies Are Coming!

Easter Mums At Janoski's
LFLF was out & about in Ohio & Western PA today and of course, Easter flowers were on the agenda.  Although all of the local greenhouses have them, the white Easter lilies seem to be losing ground to more colorful flowers!  These beautiful mums are at Janoski's Farm & Greenhouse.  We also got one of the Gerbera Daisies to take to the office for a spot of color.

Finally, as an enticement for the upcoming growing season, flats of cabbages, onion seedlings, & lettuces were also set out under cover outside of the greenhouse.  Still a bit early to plant, but they are hardening off beautifully in a protected area ......

Check Out These Web-sites!

LFLF suggests several web-sites for winter browsing that might be of interest to foodies & foodie farmers!
We found this web-site in a magazine & then saw it on a Triscuit box.  It looks interesting if you're a home or community/urban gardener.  HomeFarming.com
Here's a link to a "Farminar" Series by the Practical Farmers of Iowa.  Check out the Resources to get to the archived Farminars ....... it looks like there's lots of info on this site.
How about checking out the Farmers' Market Coalition to view their resources & presentations?  They have a good email blast that keeps farmers & market managers up on the latest trends & issues with farmers' markets.  LFLF has been subscribed to this email blast since our days as an educator/presenter with Extension.
